BOARD GOVERNANCE P27 PEER GROUP
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.

The Board Governance P27 Group is a peer learning and support community for nonprofit board members and leaders who are responsible for governing their nonprofit organization. Designed to foster collaborative growth, this group provides a confidential space for members to share challenges, insights, and strategies to enhance their boards and their own governance skills. Participants benefit from guided discussions on topics such as board engagement, effective partnership with and oversight of the chief executive, board self-evaluation, board involvement in fundraising, strategic planning, and more.
This group will gather once per month starting in September and continuning through May 2026 (specific dates TBD based on registrant availability). The group will meet each month for two hours, typically over a provided lunch, and typically in central/north Austin.
Participants are expected to commit to attending all gatherings.
This group will be led and facilitated by:
- Larry Smith, CEO of Tokyo Electron, Board Chair of Mobile Loaves & Fishes, and a longtime advisor and coach to nonprofit executives
- Tony Budet, Past CEO of University Federal Credit Union, multi-time nonprofit board member, and longtime advisor and coach to nonprofit executives
GWC member organizations receive a 50% discount off of the non-member price: $450 for members, $900 for non-members.
